Hair Club (formerly Hair Club for Men, also Hair Club for Men and Women) is one of the largest companies in the hair restoration and hair replacement industry, with more than 95 locations throughout the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico. The company was founded in 1976 by Sy Sperling, known by the trademark phrase “I'm not only the Hair Club President, but I’m also a client.”[1] In 2005, Hair Club was purchased by the public Minneapolis company Regis and is now a wholly owned subsidiary of the company.
The company caters to a predominantly male clientele, but in recent years has added services for women to address female hair loss and thinning brought on by chemotherapy, menopause, postpartum stress, trichotillomania, hormonal imbalances, and natural aging.

Hair Club offers multiple services to its clients to address hair loss. A non-surgical technique is offered, trademarked as Bio-Matrix. In addition, Hair Club offers hair therapy programs that use scalp cleansers and conditioners as well as FDA approved hair regrowth agents. Surgical hair replacement is also an option for hair restoration that Hair Club offers.
On December 27th, 2010, the "Hair Club Chopper", a custom bike built to celebrate the company's 35th anniversary, will be featured on Discovery Networks' show, American Chopper. This is the first of two episodes featuring the Hair Club Chopper, with the second airing on January 17th, 2011. The chopper itself was unveiled at Washington State University on December 14th, 2010.
Craig Ferguson, host of CBS’ The Late Late Show, referenced the company in a 2007 monologue,
"First rule of Hair Club is don’t talk about Hair Club" (an obvious allusion to the first two "rules" of the novel Fight Club and its movie adaptation). [1]
In the TV series Dinosaurs (TV series) episode "High Noon', the Hair Club was parodied as the "Horns Club" (promising dinosaurs "thick, full horns"with its president Spike Sperling.
In the TV series South Park episode Fantastic Easter Special (season 11, episode 5) it is revealed that Randy Marsh is a member of a secret Easter bunny society called the "Hare Club for Men".
In 1995 the 4th Wave of Chia characters included the original Chia Head (later called Chia Guy) which looked like a caricature of none other than the president himself... Sy(rhymes with 'Guy')Sperling!
In the 1987 satirical comedy film Amazon Women on the Moon, a segment entitled "Hairlooming" starring Joe Pantoliano as Sy Swerdlow, advertises a hair replacement system that involves covering the client's head with floor carpet.
In the song One More Chance. The Notorious B.I.G. references Hair Club in the final lyric when he states "I'm not only a client, I'm the player president".
